This is a fun series with scenes of children playing together in the sky.
The items are perfect for children who are ready to eat by themselves for the first time.

PET/ABS resin with urethane coating is a common material for Japanese tableware, lunch boxes, soup cups, etc. You'll see it written as PET・ABS樹脂 ウレタン塗装.

It's 2 layers doing 2 different jobs:

1. PET*ABS Resin = the base plastic

It's not one plastic, it's an alloy blend:

• PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate): The same plastic used in drink bottles. Gives heat resistance, dimensional stability, and clarity.
• ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene): Tough, impact-resistant plastic used for LEGO, electronics housings. Gives strength so it doesn't crack when dropped.

Blended together you get a lightweight, durable, dishwasher-safe base that is cheaper and lighter than melamine or wood, but looks more premium than plain PP.

2. Urethane Coating = the surface finish

This is a thin polyurethane paint/coating sprayed on top and cured. The patents for this type of coating specifically call it out as suitable for coating plastic substrates such as ABS resin, PC resin, and PET resin to form a film with excellent hardness, scratch resistance, and flexibility. 

On tableware it does 3 things:

1. Look and feel: Gives that smooth, lacquer-like woodgrain or glossy color. Without it, PET/ABS is just dull plastic.
2. Protection: Seals the plastic so it doesn't stain from curry, oil, etc. and improves scratch resistance.
3. Antibacterial: Most products that list this spec will say "antibacterial specification" - like this example: Material: PET/ABS resin with urethane coating (antibacterial specification). The urethane topcoat has an antibacterial agent mixed in. 

Properties / Limitations

• Lightweight and shatter-resistant unlike ceramic
• Looks like lacquerware but much cheaper to mass produce
• NOT microwave safe in most cases. Urethane coating will peel, crack or blister.
• Heat limit is usually 80-90°C. Don't pour boiling oil, don't use in oven.
• Dishwasher OK, but use lower temp. Strong detergents and very high heat over time will dull the urethane.
